Crispy on the outside, dense cake-like on the inside.
Once you get past the usual long line and frazzled staff and get your hands on the fresh made-all-day doughnut, the first thing you notice is how heavy it is. This is no wimpy Krispy Creme doughnut. The outside has a thick, crispy shell of cooked dough and the inside is moist, dense and cakey.
This was the initial stop for four of us on this day long eating excursion around Vancouver. After finally finding some parking (very hard to find in Deep Cove!), we picked up 2 chocolate dipped, 1 maple dipped and one plain. The chocolate layer is thick and breaks off in big chucks. Don’t try and drive while eating it (like we were) or you will end up wearing it. The maple glaze was stickier and very similar to the Tim Horton’s maple glazed in flavour. The only downside to the doughnut is it’s denseness. It will fill you up! Not a good thing when you have many other places you want to eat at!
There is nothing quite like getting up on a sleepy Saturday or Sunday morning, getting a coffee and a Honey’s Doughnut and enjoying the beauty of Deep Cove.
