The Review

So far, our reviews are about fast food or quick bites because when you are talking about food under $10 (especially in Canada) that’s where the price point takes you. Today we are reviewing items from a small family-run, sit down restaurant in Marysville, WA where the food is of top notch quality, with generous portions at a very affordable price.

When you see a caesar salad on the menu at $3.95, normally you would think “side salad”. Not here. This is definitely a meal sized caesar salad. We had chicken added to it for the extra $2. It’s hard to tell from the picture exactly how much chicken has been added (at least one breast) because there is so much freshly shredded cheese covering the plate (not that this is a bad thing). The lettuce was fresh and crispy, the chicken was well spiced and the whole salad was perfectly dressed. The freshly baked breadstick had olive oil and parmesan cheese on it and was soft and flavorful. If eating this salad with a meal, it would be recommended that you share this salad because it is filling!

The three cheese ravioli also comes in a hefty portion, with two fairly large chunks of tasty garlic cheese bread. The pasta is full of cheese and the cream sauce is decent. What stands this pasta apart is the red pepper sauce. The bold sauce elevates this pasta to one of my favourites.

After eating half the caesar salad and the ravioli (putting a portion of the ravioli and a cheese bread in a “to go” box), I’d have to say I was pretty full. Not so full though that I could pass up one of their creme brulees. At $2.95, this is one of the cheapest creme brulees out there and they do not scrimp on the size or the taste. The top was pleasantly crisp and the bottom was creamy. Exactly what you want in a creme brulee.

We would have never found this place unless our friends who are locals brought us here. So if you are out by the Seattle Outlets and are looking for something cheap that isn’t fast food, drive into Marysville to Cristiano’s. Please leave yourself time though. While the service is quick and friendly, this is a small restaurant and the waits can be longer than one hour during busy times, which is most of the time. Take this as a sign of good food because it is worth the wait! Only caveat, they are closed Sundays and between 3pm – 4pm all other days.
